The audit companion to the Backbone Edition: the hash-pinned release chain, the calculation records, the checkers, the negative results — published for auditors, human and machine
The Verification Record is the machine-verified technical stack behind the Backbone Edition of The Selective Transient Field from First Principles. Where the Backbone states results at their grades, this record carries the derivations, calculation records, checkers, negative results, withdrawals, and provenance from which those grades were established. It is published for auditors — human and machine — and it is not written to be read as a paper.
The record has two properties that make it auditable rather than merely archival. First, every release embeds or hash-pins its predecessor byte-intact, so the chain from the frozen V8-series baseline to the current state is continuous and independently re-verified; superseded statements remain readable inside the frozen payloads under explicit notices. Second, every release ships with a deterministic NumPy checker that re-derives its quantitative claims and asserts the programme’s discipline counters — zero fits to observation, zero timing values used to solve a theoretical coefficient — and with a clean-room verifier that re-checks all hashes and regenerates the results byte-identically. Over thirty-three million assertions stand across the chain.

The documents are rendered from the frozen source files without editorial rewriting. Two rendering conventions apply and are stated on each page: GitHub-style math fences are converted to display math, and, in the frozen v9.2 payload of the release stack, two markup defects of the original transport (five missing backslashes and one missing display-math close) are repaired at the page layer. The source files and their hashes are unchanged.

The standalone packages — each containing the manuscript, the checkers, the clean-room verifier, checksums, claim and firewall ledgers, and (from Study 19 onward) the hash-pinned public Auger dataset — are held in the programme’s library and are available on request against the identities above. The Study 20 package transitively embeds the entire chain back through V9.5.
Each package requires Python 3 with NumPy and nothing else. Its clean-room verifier checks every recorded checksum, reruns the calculation, and byte-compares the regenerated results against the shipped ones; its release checker asserts the discipline counters. The release archives are deterministic builds. A reader who wants to check a single number in the Backbone should locate it in the document above that establishes it, then run that document’s package.
Verification Record established 2 September 2026, at the V9.6.1 state. It is versioned alongside the Backbone Edition: each future release of the paper is accompanied by the corresponding extension of this record.
